BEWARE OTHER SO-CALLED "STUDENT COMMUNITIES"
Many of our competitors will represent their properties as student housing communities. What every parent and student should know is that many of these "other" choices are hotels and many of the promoters are hotel brokers acting under the guise of student housing to farm out projected vacancy the hotels are forecasting. Many students arrive in Hawaii every year thinking they are going to be in a student housing community only to discover they are living in a building full of tourists!
Other than the actual universities on Oahu, our company provides more bedspaces to students in dedicated student housing communities than any other provider. Others that claim they have more space available are counting rooms they have permission to broker in for hotels.
Make sure to read any contract fully before you sign it. With many of the "hotel brokers" you will find clauses in their contracts allowing them, at their sole discretion, to move your student to another property operated by them. It’s one thing to move students between rooms, but moving them between properties in different areas of town disrupts both their academic and social routines. Our company strives to avoid this.
We work closely with the universities and our doors are always open to inspection by them. Before you book with another company, make sure to ask them why their student housing option is not displayed on your university’s website. Often times there are good reasons.
